IELTS Matching Headings Practice
IELTS Academic · Academic Reading · 6 free exercises
You match a list of headings to the paragraphs of a passage. There are always more headings than paragraphs, and the distractors are written to match a single sentence rather than the paragraph as a whole.
How to approach it
- Find each paragraph’s main idea, not its most memorable detail — the distractors are built from details.
- Read the whole heading list first so you know which ones compete with each other.
- Do the easy paragraphs first and eliminate as you go; the remaining choices narrow fast.
- A heading that matches one sentence but not the paragraph’s argument is the wrong one.
