The plans below show the layout of a university's sports centre now, and how it will look after redevelopment.

University sports centre: present layout and future plans

Two floor plans, north at the top. UNIVERSITY SPORTS CENTRE (present): a single central building entered from the south, with Reception just inside the entrance. A 25m pool fills the middle of the building, with a changing room along its west side, seating along its east side, and a gym running along the north side. Outside the building, separate from it, there are outdoor courts to the west and outdoor courts to the east. UNIVERSITY SPORTS CENTRE (future plans): both sets of outdoor courts are gone and the building is extended to the west and east to cover their space. The central core is unchanged — the same south entrance and Reception, the 25m pool, the changing room to its west and the seating to its east — and the gym still runs along the north side, now extended further east. New west wing: a large irregularly shaped leisure pool where the western courts were, with a changing room in the south-west corner and a sports shop beside the entrance on the west side. New east wing: a sports hall east of the seating, two dance studios along the east wall, a café beside the entrance on the east side, and a changing room in the south-east corner. Overall: the centre changes from one building with outdoor courts to a much larger, fully indoor complex, with a second pool, a sports hall, dance studios, extra changing rooms, and new commercial facilities (sports shop and café); the original pool, gym and reception remain.
