The table below shows the numbers of visitors to Ashdown Museum during the year before and the year after it was refurbished. The charts show the result of surveys asking visitors how satisfied they were with their visit, during the same two periods.

Year before refurbishment — Very satisfied 15%, Satisfied 30%, Dissatisfied 40%, Very dissatisfied 10%, No response 5%. Year after refurbishment — Very satisfied 35%, Satisfied 40%, Dissatisfied 15%, Very dissatisfied 5%, No response 5%. Key features: visitor numbers rose by 18,000, from 74,000 to 92,000. Satisfaction improved markedly — the combined satisfied categories rose from 45% to 75%, while the combined dissatisfied categories fell from 50% to 20%. Dissatisfied fell from 40% to 15% and Very satisfied more than doubled from 15% to 35%. No response was unchanged at 5%.
